Cutleaf groundcherry plants (Physalis angulata L.) is one of the many solanaceae familia plants grown in Indonesia and is a lot of plants growing wild in the garden or vacant land whose condition is slightly wet. Cutleaf groundcherry thrive in lowland until height of 1550 m above sea level, spread over moor land, dry fields, and can be found in the forests of teak.

Physalis angulata L plants shaped herb, annual, erect, with height from 0.1 to 1 m. Main stem is not clear, branching like a fork, a sharp-cornered, ribbed and hollow. Single leaf, ovate, pointed tip, flat edge, hairy surface, the bones of pinnate leaves, 5-25 cm long, 2.5 to 18 cm wide, stem 1-9 cm, green. Single flower, is located at the end of the bear, slender, violet, 8-23 mm then grow to 3 cm. Fruit is round and yellowish-green when young, but when old brownish color with a sour taste sweet-sour. Saponin contained in cutleaf groundcherry provide a sense of bitterness and efficacious as anti-tumor and inhibit the growth of cancer, especially colon cancer. Flavonoids and polyphenols efficacious as an antioxidant. All parts of plants can be used to treat cancer. Fruit Physalis angulata L. efficacious as a cure bleeding gums, drug ulcers, and heartburn drug, while the leaves are nutritious as an ulcer drug. For bleeding gums medicine used ± 30 grams of Physalis angulata L. ripe fruit, washed and eaten way.

Other chemical constituents in cutleaf groundcherry herbs such as Fisalin B, Fisalin D, Fisalin F, Withangulantin A. In seeds, among others, proteins, fatty oil, palmitic acid and stearic acid. The roots of the plant contain alkaloids groundcherry cutleaf, while the leaves contain flavonoid glycosides and the shoots contain flavonoids and saponins.
